Volume 6 Speeders & Pod Racers

The process of scratch-building models demands a high level of creativity and imagination. Unlike assembling kits from pre-made pieces, scratch-building involves, for the most part, designing and constructing each component from raw materials. This requires modelers to think critically and innovatively, often devising new methods and techniques to achieve the desired results.

Speeders and Pod Racers are synonymous with the Star Wars universe and with its vast array of designs, provides a rich source of inspiration, creating entirely new additions to the Star Wars lore.

It was not unlike any other day as the crews from around the quadrant gathered together for the 369th Interplanetary Cup. Races from every sector had come to pit their creations against anyone willing to step up and this year the field was vast. Alpha-series speeders had been brought into manage security and patrols and the Mulgon crew from Toxmania had been awarded the contract to ensure no fights would break out. Bruan-Du had made an appearance this year, coming in from the desert with a new entry speeders made from an old Bat-tech flyer like is speeder. The Mulgons would be watching him carefully.

But most people had come to see Chewy. His Thunderwook Racer was destined to make history this year if he could win. This year would be win number ten and put him into the records of history as the greatest pod racer ever to grace the field. He looked confident, which could not be said for his entry. It was old and weather-beaten, a lot like him, yet Chey was standing next to it with an awe of confidence.

To everyone’s surprise and trepidation though was the entry that no one thought would ever happen. An imperial Intruder Pod Racer has been entered and is now sitting down on the track waiting for the first race. It was impressive to say the least, with its massive twin hyperflux engines and central stabiliser module that looked like it had been taken right out of a Tie Fighters thruster bay. One could be mistaken for thinking Lord Vader was the pilot as the dark figure sitting in the seat had a helmet that looked oddly familiar to that of the Dictator himself.

This year stakes were high and it seemed as though this would be the year to make or break the freedom and culture of this event.
